Houston (Texas) Yates, the No. 1 team in the RivalsHigh Top 100 boys basketball rankings, seems to make news - or a interesting story - every time it takes the court. Saturday night was no exception.

It's 154-39 victory over Houston (Texas) Davis was notable for a few things:

The point total: It broke 150 for the third time this season (and 100 for the 12th).



Yates has broke 100 points 12 times this season.

The margin: More than 100 for the second time this season - though not the 135-point margin that was a national story earlier this season.

And then there's this: The team ran off the first 26 points of the game (Davis didn't score until there was 4:24 left in the quarter) and nearly got 50 in the first quarter, taking a 49-6 lead. (It led 82-24 at half.)

Here's what there wasn't: A controversy about any of it.

"No, I don't think they tried to run up the scoreboard on us," Davis coach William Jeffery told Maurice Bobb in a story for the Houston Chronicle (read it here). "Yates is a very good team. I joke all the time that they could beat the New York Knicks right now."

Davis, in fact, was pleased by his team's performance.

"My players played to the best of their abilities out there and represented the Davis name on their chests and that's all I can ask for," he said.

Yates, which cleared its bench after the first quarter, broke the 100-point barrier in the third quarter (no debate on that this time).

Joseph Young had a game-high 29 points for Yates. Brandon Peters, one of nine players in double-figures, finished with 20.

The victory improved Yates to 19-0.

Davis, which has given up 100 points in a game now eight times, fell to 0-18.
