It was a big summer this year and no one had a bigger summer than the #1 player on are list. Andre Drummond is a true man child who has similarities of Amare Stoudemire. This kid might be the top overall prospect regardless of class. He is a fierce shot blocker and has electrifying atleticism. Drummond might reclassify to the 2011 class and don't be surprised if he takes that #1 spot. Coming in at #2 is a terrific scorer out of Vegas. Shabazz Muhammed is clearly the best Shooting Guard in the class. He tremendous athletism and he is tough to stop. Next up on the list is Khem Birch. Birch is extremely athletic and can play either forward position. Birch is a great rebounder and can score. He has a chance at taking the top spot if his skills improve. He has major potential. Dajuan Coleman comes in at #4 and theres no question if he has game. He is a physical man child, who is pretty much in possible to stop once he gets it in the post. Rounding out the top 5 is the big 7'0 Isaiah Austin. This kid probably has the most potential on the list. He has great defense and is a tremendous shot blocker. Austin also can driblle a little up court. He will be a great fit for Baylor in two years. Closing out the top 10 is Brandon Ashley, L.J. Rose, Daniel Ochefu, Hanner Perea, and Kyle Anderson.

There is a new #1 on the list from Flordia, and he is the son of Doc Rivers. Austin Rivers showed us why he should be the #1 Player in the Nation. He is a outstanding scorer who also gets underrated for his defending. Rivers a nice step back jumper and quick first step. Followed behind Rivers is the former #1 Michael Ghilcrest. Ghilcrest has the full package. He has a non stop motor and is explosive getting to the rim. Look for him to try and regain his #1 spot when the 2011 rankings come out. Next coming in at #3 in the Nation is Quincy Miller out of North Carolina. This 6'9 Combo foward has game. He can take you inside or out. He is explosive getting to the rim and will pullup if needed. Next on the list is the biggest under the rader to ever make it up this high on the rankings. Anthony Davis out of Illinois is a player you could end up seeing at the top of the list when it's all said and done. He has a great pullup and non stop motor. He knows how to play wing when need and will go inside also. At 6'10 the sky is the limit for him. Coming in to round out the Top 5 is a electric quick player out of Indianapolis, Indiana. Teague is the best point guard in the nation and shows why. he is impossible to guard 1on1 and can get to the basket at anytime. Teague has also improved on his jumpshot and don't for get this 6'2 point guard will go up in dunk on you unexpected. Rounding out the Top Ten is LeBryan Nash, Bradley Beal, James McAdoo, Myck Kabongo, and DeAndre Daniels.

The top player in the country has officially commited and signed to Kentucky. Knight who is a Mc'Donald All Americans and Jordan All American will have some help coming with him. Doron Lamb and Stacey Poole also signed to Kentucky giving them another great class and a potential #1 recruiting class. Lamb committed in the 2nd half of the Jordan Brand All American game.

When it was over - when Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep had won the Florida Class 1A title with a 59-54 triumph in Lakeland, Fla.- head coach Reggie Kohn acted as if his team had done this all before.

Maybe it was because they had.

"We did what we wanted to do" he said. "The guys executed our game plan perfectly."

Sunshine Celebration
Orlando Christian Prep knocked off Arlington Country Day to win the state title. Check out the photo gallery from our media partner OrlandoSentinel.comWith it, came the school's third straight state title. This one, however, may have been the most special as it prevented Jacksonville (Fla.) Arlington Country Day from capturing an unprecedented sixth straight state title.
"We had to take care of the ball, rebound at the defensive end, and know who to guard and who to back off of," Kohn explained - again sounding as if they had done this all before.

Maybe it was because they had.

Back on Dec. 12, Orlando Christian Prep, No. 72 in the latest RivalsHigh Top 100, held on for a surprising 49-47 victory over No. 63 Arlington Country Day. Of course, most in attendance Thursday afternoon thought Arlington's size and experience would prove to be too much this time around.

It certainly looked that way in the opening 75 seconds as Arlington raced out to a 7-0 lead. But Orlando Christian Prep, guided by Kohn, did just what it needed and used an 11-2 run to end the quarter up, 13-9.

Orlando Christian increased its lead to 21-15 at halftime and then extended it to 35-22 in the third.

Five-time champions do not go down easily though.

Arlington Country Day cut it to 38-30 through three quarters, then cut it to 39-38. The teams battled until Orlando showed its strength from the line down the stretch. Ahead just 45-44, Orlando scored five straight points to extend the lead to 50-44. Then it was just a matter of hanging on.

You know, acting as if it had done this sort of thing before.

"We stayed poised when they made their run in the final quarter and responded," Kohn said. "I couldn't be more proud of a group of guys."

Jordan Montgomery led the way with 14 points; Adonis Burbage contributed 12 and Isaac Cohen scored 11. Orlando Christian Prep finishes the season 28-4.

John Brown led Arlington Country Day (23-6) with 18 points; Chris Blunt and Shawn Smith each added nine. This time, though, it wasn't quite enough.

"It has been a great run with a great group of kids that have come thru here," Arlington coach Rex Morgan said. "OCP did a good job of keeping us off the offensive glass. We played in foul trouble the whole game and had to stay in zone more than we wanted. Also, of our 20 turnovers, I'd say 15 were unforced."

Morgan praised Orlando, too.

"Give all the credit to OCP; they did a great job," he said. "We just have to start a new run."

ROMULUS - Michigan's top two teams met Thursday night to close out the regular season in dramatic fashion. In front of a sellout crowd of more than 2,000 fans that included coaches from many of the top programs in the country, No. 2 Romulus (Michigan) High (No. 60 in the most recent RivalsHigh Top 100 boys basketball rankings) edged No. 1 Beverly Hills (Mich.) Country Day (No. 25 in the RivalsHigh 100), 56-54, thanks to a Justin Moss layup with three seconds remaining.
"I think this is one of the most unselfish teams I ever had," Romulus head coach Nate Oats said. "As far as moving the ball and making the extra pass, which we did, we had to make shots at the end and we did."

The Eagles seemed to start the game with a little more energy than Country Day as they jumped out to an 18-12 lead after the first quarter. As would be the story of the game, Romulus was able to get in the middle of the Country Day man-to-man defense via the dribble weave and kick it to open shooters who were spotting up on the arc. Romulus connected three times in the opening quarter from distance including back-to-back 3-pointers from Marcus Trent and another from Derrick Stewart.

"When we played them in the past they played a lot of zone against us. I thought we would see more zone than we did tonight," Oats said. "When they did go zone, we hit threes, which tends to make you not want to go zone."

Country Day (18-2) responded in the second quarter to take a 29-28 lead into the break. Romulus started to cool down from the outside, leading to empty possessions and Country Day transitions. The Yellow Jackets would tie the game at 22-22 at the 4:30 mark thanks to a Carter Elliot basket off an assist from Ray McCallum. Two free throws from Lee Bailey a minute later gave the Yellow Jackets their first lead of the game at 26-24. McCallum finished the first half with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.

The intensity of the game was heightened in the second half as both teams knew it would be a battle to the end. It was a see-saw contest through the third as Romulus would reclaim a slim 41-40 advantage heading into the fourth.

The fourth quarter belonged to Stewart and Moss as they brought the inside-outside attack that eventually helped Romulus down the stretch. Despite shooting 2-of-6 from behind the arc in the first half, Stewart found his stroke in the second half, hitting 4-of-5 from distance. Meanwhile, Moss would seal the Eagle win by scoring the final six points of the game including the game-winning layup with just three seconds to play.

"We just dug too many holes for ourselves," Country Day head coach Kurt Keener said. "We missed too many free throws early on and we allowed them to get some real good wide-open looks at the threes in the second half."

Country Day finished the game 8-of-15 from the free throw line. McCallum and Williams combined to shoot just 2-of-9.

Stewart finished 6-of-11 from the arc and led Romulus with 20 points. Moss, who missed the last two games due to a bruised knee, posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. DeAndray Buckley played a solid all-around game and contributed 11 points.

With the win, Romulus (19-1) broke the school record for most wins in a season. That record was previously held by the 1986 team (18-2) led by Terry Mills.

Amir Williams was not at his best against Romulus
Moss, who was giving up three to four inches in height to Amir Williams, played a physical game which seemed to make Williams uncomfortable in the paint.

"What Romulus lacks in size, they've got a big body in Justin Moss," Keener said. "He kept that body on Amir all night long and they did a great job with their back-side rotation. There were very few times where Amir was able to catch the ball with just one man on him."

McCallum, who didn't have his best game, shot 2-for-5 from the charity stripe and finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds, but also had five turnovers including two crucial offensive fouls late in the fourth that kept Romulus in the ball game. Williams was pretty much non-existent on the night and finished with eight points, seven rebounds, three blocks and shot 0-for-4 from the line.

"This is a good test for us," McCallum said. "We haven't played in a hostile environment like this in a while. The last time we did we lost to Kalamazoo Central, and it just shows us that we need more work and executing when the gym gets loud."

Despite the loss, Country Day will still be the favorites in the Class-B tournament as it looks to capture its first title since 2007. The Yellow Jackets will be in the Clawson District and open with Madison Heights Lamphere at 5 p.m. Monday.

Romulus, meanwhile, will head into the Class-A tournament as the top-ranked team in the state. It will be in the Wayne Memorial District and will play Westland John Glenn at 8 p.m. Monday.

Another big win, another scoring record for the Houston (Texas) Yates boys basketball team.

No. 1 Yates recorded its 11th consecutive 100-point game on Friday night.
The team, No. 1 in the RivalsHigh boys basketball Top 100 rankings, set a Texas state record with its 11th straight game over 100 points in its 104-48 victory over Friendswood (Texas) High Friday night.

Amazingly, it was the 17th time in 18 games the school has hit the century mark - and the one miss (it only had 94) created a controversy as some felt it was fouling at the end of the game to reach it.

Yates coach Greg Wise has said all year that titles - not point totals - are the team's only goal. It wants to be recognized as the best.

Friendswood coach Darren Chandler thinks they are - and he's just not talking this season.

"That may be the best team ever, in any classification, bar none," he told The Houston Chronicle.

Friendswood actually gave Yates a game. For a bit. It was within 13-12 late in the first quarter before Yates closed the period with a 13-0 run to take a 26-12 lead. The run went nine more unanswered points in the second as Yates put the game out of reach at 35-12.

Senior guard Joseph Young, headed to Providence, did a lot of the damage, scoring 38 points in the game.

Yates still has hopes for an unbeaten season and a No. 1 national ranking. The chance for two undefeated state champions at the school ended Friday night though.

The Yates girls team suffered its first loss, falling to Del Valle (Texas) High, 53-37. Rivals
The Henderson International School, a small private institution located out on the outskirts of Las Vegas serving more than 100 kids from preschool to 12th grade, announced Friday it will close the doors on its high school next season due to financial difficulties.

What happens to its nationally-ranked and controversial boys basketball team - Findlay Prep - remains to be seen.

FindlayPrep.com
Tristan Thompson, headed to Texas, is the No. 17 overall prospect in the Class of 2010.

"I'm very confident with the strong interest that key people have in keeping it going," head coach Mike Peck said Sunday night. "I'm very confident that it will continue."

The Findlay Prep basketball team is the brainchild of local car dealer Cliff Findlay, a former University of Nevada Las Vegas basketball player who has provided the financial backing for the team since it was created four years ago.

The team, made up of players from across the country, does not belong to any high school association and follows its own rules, traveling the country to play games.

The school has lost just a handful of games in its history and was the undisputed and undefeated national champion last season.

This year's team features two of the Top 20 players nationally according to the Rivals rankings for the Class of 2010. The team is 27-2; the first defeat snapped a 45-game winning streak. It is ranked No. 12 in the latest RivalsHigh Top 100 boys basketball rankings.

The team has seemingly been a lightning rod for controversy since its inception - and certainly since a Sports Illustrated profile titled "March Madness Comes to High School Sports" brought it into the national spotlight. The program's creation and success was selected as one of the ten biggest boys high school stories of 2009 by RivalsHigh.

Critics say the team is merely a group of amateur basketball players, one that lives together and does a lot of their academic work through correspondence because of their heavy travel schedule (the school has played teams from 13 states and one foreign country this season). It has been called the ultimate basketball factory.

Proponents say it is providing a service that traditional high school can not: An intensive learning environment for top high school athletes. They see it is no different than schools created to serve those outstanding in the arts.

They also say the players - each of which is given a laptop - have excelled in the classroom.

A story in The Sun earlier last week - before the announcement of the closing was made - noted that 17 graduating seniors have been academically qualified to compete in college, based on grades in 16 core classes and standardized tests - something many traditional high schools are unable to accomplish.

FindlayPrep.com
Cory Joseph is the No. 7 overall player in the Class of 2010.

"I'm the first one to say the credit has to go to the guys," Peck told the paper. "I'm not the one taking the tests."

Peck told The Sun that kids who don't their schoolwork don't last.

"The kids have to be self-motivated," Peck said. "If you don't do the work and if you don't study, guess what, you aren't going to qualify."

Tuition at the school ranges from $15,000-$18,000, but Megan Hakes - a spokesperson for the Meritas Schools, an organization Henderson joined in 2005 - told the Las Vegas Journal-Review that many students do not, and can not, pay that rate.

"We have an increasing number of parents who either can't afford to pay full tuition or any tuition at all," Hakes told the paper.

Dropping the high school part of the school, she said, was a last resort.

"It was something the company studied for quite some time," Hakes told the paper. "When it became perfectly clear the high school would not be sustainable, we made the decision and informed our students, our families and our faculty."

The word came from school head Brian Siegel, who told the faculty, students and their parents late in the day on Friday.

"Despite years of intense efforts to raise enrollment and improve operations, the serious economic challenges facing our community have taken their toll," Siegel said in a letter.

"This decision came after much thoughtful consideration," he wrote. "The extreme economic challenges facing Las Vegas - including record number of foreclosures, high unemployment, and relocation of many families out of the area - have taken their toll on many Henderson families and also resulted in lower demand for our high school."

Findlay Prep's regular season has concluded. It will spend the next month preparing for the ESPN National High School Invitational in Washington in early April. The team won the inaugural tournament last spring.

From there, it's unclear what will happen.

Peck said the Findlay Education Foundation could support another existing school or opt to start a new school.

"I know there are and continue to be more options for us," he said. "It's just what's going to be the best economic model. That's what's going to have to be determined by us." Rivals

This year will be another great Mc'Donalds All American game. With great players like Brandon Knight, Harrison Barnes, and who can forget about Josh Selby this will be fun to watch, but there are some deserving players who didn't make it.

Will Barton out of Baltimore is not on the team which is a surprise. He is one of the best shooting guards in the country if not the best and will most likely be a big impact next year.

Tony Mitchell at #16 also didn't make it. He is one of the best in the country and outstanding athlete. He can also handle the ball well. Missouri will love this kid.

Adreian Payne is also a big surprise to me. I would've thought he made it. It's in his home state and he the second best player they have. He's a nice shot blocker and rebounder. He needs to add wieght but will be good at the nenext level.

How do you feel About The Teams?
Illegal workouts for big-name college coaches ... secret videotapes made by former state troopers turned undercover private investigators (we've got it below) ... complaints about illegal recruiting from a former NBA player with a checkered past ... fiery speeches, threats of lawsuits and name-calling that includes the use of "fascist" and "terrorist" ... all in the name of high school basketball.

As expected, Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick was officially banned from this year's New Jersey state basketball tournament and put on two years probation Friday by its state association.

NJ Hoops

Kyrie Irving will not get to defend the Tournament of Champions title.
Head coach Kevin Boyle, found guilty of holding illegal preseason workouts - so his players could be seen by college coaches - was suspended for three games.

Both decisions were handed down by the Executive Committee of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association in a meeting in Robbinsville, N.J.

The action, however, is just getting going. What happens next is a bit murky.

Boyle will be allowed to coach this weekend when his team, No. 14 in the latest RivalsHigh Hoops 100, meets No. 11 Mouth of River (Va.) Oak Hill on Friday (a 79-78 loss) and No. 23 New York (N.Y.) Rice on Saturday in the Prime Time shootout.

Boyle's suspension will begin next week. He may, in fact, be able to return in time for the final of the school's county tournament - a big deal in New Jersey. Having to give the sanctioned Boyle and his team the trophy is a possibility county officials already are fearing.

St. Patrick, however, will not be able to compete in the ESPN national tournament since it is not in good standing with the NJSIAA.

"Before we will even approach a school we have to know that the state association or the governing body will allow them to play in the games," ESPN spokesman Crystal Howard said. "If they don't say that schools in their governance could play in our games, we won't even consider going against those rulings and actually select or invite."

And St. Patrick principal Joe Picaro said the school has no intention of leaving the NJSIAA and becoming an independent, joining the likes of Oak Hill and nearby Newark (N.J.) St. Benedict's Prep, No. 5 in the latest RivalsHigh poll.

Brandon Knight poured in 48 points but Pine Crest couldn't get by Winter Park in an 87-76 loss Friday on ESPN2. Brandon Knight also finished with 42 points, 10 rebounds and three assists but Pine Crest lost on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer, 63-62, to Florida Air Academy Tuesday.

Tobias Harris scored 31 points and added 17 rebounds and five blocked shots in Half Hollow Hills West's 94-66 rout of West Babylon on Thursday.

Perry Ellis bounced back from a slow first half to finish with 27 points 15 rebounds and 4 assists in a 73-58 victory for Wichita Heights (KS) over Kapaul Mt. Carmel (KS) on Friday night. Ellis had 7 points and 5 rebounds at the half but exploded for 20 of his 27 in the second half as Heights rolled to victory.

Austin Rivers dropped 41 points on top-ranked senior point guard Brandon Knight and Pine Crest in Winter Park's 87-76 win on Friday.

Stanford-bound forward Anthony Brown poured in 32 points and added 12 rebounds as Ocean View beat Orange Lutheran 83-67 on Saturday at the Nike Extravaganza.
- If the St. Patrick’s Celtics from Elizabeth, N.J. was distracted over possible expulsion from its state boys basketball tournament, they sure didn’t play like it.

If they were trying to make a statement with a resounding 91-64 win over nationally-ranked Taft (Woodlands Hills, Calif.) in the final game of the Nike Extravaganza Saturday night, they sure weren’t talking about it.

Huntington Prep senior wing Justin Coleman has committed to play basketball at the University of Louisville, giving the coaching staff the word Friday afternoon.

"They showed me the most interest and have been recruiting me for a while," Coleman told The Courier-Journal. "Coach (Rick) Pitino gets players to the league and they have some spots open at my position next year, so I can come in and play."

The 6-foot-4 Coleman said he also had offers from South Florida, Kentucky, Providence and Arkansas have all offered. He's originally from Richmond, Va., and is considered a top-25 prospect.

Coleman is still not academically eligible but said he was "really close."

The scoring sensation also has a chance to make history this season.

Thomas is within striking distance of the hallowed Indiana state record for career points (3,134) held by 1990 ESPN RISE Mr. Basketball USA winner Damon Bailey of Bedford North Lawrence (Bedford, Ind.). Thomas enters Friday's content against rival Wayne (Fort Wayne, Ind.) with 2,796 points.

"I've never met him," said Thomas about Bailey. "I've heard good things about him and know he was more than just a good shooter. It'd be cool if he showed up at one of the games and supported me, stuff like that. I'd like to get to meet him as I get closer to the record."

Rated the nation's No. 12 recruit in the ESPNU 100, the Ohio State-bound Thomas downplays his individual achievements. However, Thomas' coaches, teammates and fans are keenly aware of the situation.

"I've talked to Deshaun about it, but he's the last guy that talks about all that stuff," said Bishop Luers assistant coach Mitch Sturm. "It's everyone else that reminds him. Everywhere he goes, Ohio State fans and our fans are like, 'You got to get that (scoring) record.' If he doesn't get the record, he won't be devastated because he's a team-first guy."

Thomas has been amazingly consistent in his four-year prep career, averaging between 21.3 and 21.5 shots per game in his first three seasons, according to Sturm. This season, he's taking approximately 22.8 shots per game. Sturm feels there are aspects of Thomas' game that are underrated and will blossom once he gets to Columbus.

"His assists numbers are lower than they should be," Sturm said. "He's a much better passer than people think. That's not demeaning our players, but at the next level he'll be playing with guys that are all threats (to score)."

Sturm also said Thomas' teammates don't mind the big man in campus getting most of the attention and accolades.

"When we played (ESPN RISE FAB 50 No. 1) Northland (an 88-67 loss), we were clearly in over our heads," Sturm said. "Our guys take losing hard, but in that game, they put Deshaun in a position to shine. They won't come out and admit it, but I guarantee that was their goal. They did it because he's such a good teammate."

Brandon Knight should make a major impact no matter where he ends up.
They have raised the awareness of Florida prep basketball, taking their games to the highest levels. Senior Brandon Knight (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Pine Crest) and junior Austin Rivers (Winter Park, Fla.) will finally face off in the regular season Friday on ESPN2, tipping off at 7 p.m. ET.

The Pine Crest-Winter Park matchup highlights a nationally televised doubleheader from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. In the opener, Montverde Academy plays Sagemont School (Weston) at 5 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

"Florida is known as a football state, but we like to [show] there's a lot of good basketball players here," said Winter Park coach David Bailey, whose team is 20-4 heading into Tuesday's Class 6A, District 4 quarterfinal game vs. Eastridge (Orlando). "People will see two of the nation's best players are from Florida. We're excited about the game," he said.

Bailey's teams are no stranger to ESPN, having appeared twice, most recently in December during the finals of the City of Palms Classic from Fort Myers, Fla.

The Old Spice High School Showcase, a series of 14 regular-season games, closes this weekend with a flurry. The ESPN family of networks will televise three games from Florida and Indiana, featuring top teams and players that will likely become household names.

Though many are intrigued by the player matchup, the burning question is where Pine Crest's Knight, the reigning Gatorade National Player of the Year, will attend college. He has narrowed his choices to Florida, Miami, Syracuse, Connecticut, Kentucky and Kansas.

"Knowing Brandon and how he operates, it'll be a methodical process; he'll probably announce soon after the season," Pine Crest coach David Beckerman said.

Rivers, a 6-foot-3 guard who averages 24 points, has verbally committed to Florida but hasn't ruled out other schools, most notably Duke. "Things could change; nothing is done until you sign the national letter," he said.

Knight and Rivers (No. 2 in ESPNU Super 60) played for Each One Teach One, a Central Florida club team. Rivers figures he'll guard his friend throughout the game.

"You can't guard him the whole game or you'll be exhausted," Rivers said. "I'm the best person to guard him, especially in the fourth quarter when the game could be on the line."

How will Rivers defend Knight, who is closing in on Broward County's all-time scoring mark?

"He's an aggressive player and a scorer," Rivers said. "He likes to attack the glass and steps out to shoot the 3-ball."

Knight has scored more than 3,300 career points, averaging 32 points, and has knocked down 86 3s this season. Pine Crest (19-3) enters Friday's game having dropped a buzzer-beating 63-62 decision to Florida Air Academy, snapping a 30-game home win streak. Knight had 42 points with four 3-pointers.

"[He] wasn't really on that night" said Beckerman of Knight, who sank 18 of 20 free throws. "Brandon scored, but no one else stepped up; we need more contributions."

That's not the case with Winter Park, Florida's top-ranked 6A team and the favorite to capture a state title in March.

The Wildcats are far from a one-man show.

At 6-9, Adam Jones is nearly averaging a double-double (10 points, nine rebounds and four blocks). The defensive stopper signed with Fairfield over Tulane, George Mason and Iona.

"This will be a high-intensity game," Jones said. "This will give us a great test before the districts and gets us exposure to big crowds which we'll see this month."

Brett Comer, a 6-2 junior, is headed to Florida Atlantic. He contributes 12 points and four assists per game. Six-foot-7 forward Robert Lovaglio (12 points, eight rebounds) is getting several Division II looks. Isaac Turner, a 6-1 senior, rounds out the lineup.

Lovaglio is the "X factor," says Rivers.

St. Benedict's Prep upsets boys basketball No .1 St. Patrick 65-64 in final seconds
Houston (Texas) Yates, the No. 1 team in the RivalsHigh Top 100 boys basketball rankings, seems to make news - or a interesting story - every time it takes the court. Saturday night was no exception.

It's 154-39 victory over Houston (Texas) Davis was notable for a few things:

The point total: It broke 150 for the third time this season (and 100 for the 12th).

Yates has broke 100 points 12 times this season.

The margin: More than 100 for the second time this season - though not the 135-point margin that was a national story earlier this season.

And then there's this: The team ran off the first 26 points of the game (Davis didn't score until there was 4:24 left in the quarter) and nearly got 50 in the first quarter, taking a 49-6 lead. (It led 82-24 at half.)

Here's what there wasn't: A controversy about any of it.

"No, I don't think they tried to run up the scoreboard on us," Davis coach William Jeffery told Maurice Bobb in a story for the Houston Chronicle (read it here). "Yates is a very good team. I joke all the time that they could beat the New York Knicks right now."

Davis, in fact, was pleased by his team's performance.

"My players played to the best of their abilities out there and represented the Davis name on their chests and that's all I can ask for," he said.

Yates, which cleared its bench after the first quarter, broke the 100-point barrier in the third quarter (no debate on that this time).

Joseph Young had a game-high 29 points for Yates. Brandon Peters, one of nine players in double-figures, finished with 20.

The victory improved Yates to 19-0.

Davis, which has given up 100 points in a game now eight times, fell to 0-18.
